As a family service provider, I've seen secular counseling centers housed in Catholic Churches, Presbyterian Churches, Lutheran Churches, but never our of Baptist or Methodist churches. Meanwhile, we as AA's are the most likely to see violence. Our children meet the criteria to be diagnosis with PTSD. We are the largest population to find ourselves in situations that cause mental health issues. Homelessness, Jail, foster care system and adoption system.We must change our attitude about accepting mental health services. Why aren't our Spiritual Leaders doing more than telling us to pray to cope with the stress that is killing us? Why does it feel like some of them are reinforcing the racially mysogynyistic homophobic stereotypes that are driving us apart?
